Elrich: ‘Montgomery County is Not Changing its Policies’
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles held a press conference Thursday to clarify the county’s position on reopening during the COVID-19 epidemic. On Wednesday, Gov. Larry Hogan announced that his Stay at Home order will be lifted effective Friday at 5 p.m. and Stage One of reopening Maryland will begin.
Elrich said our county has not seen a 14-day decrease in cases and is not ready to begin Stage One of recovery. Montgomery County will remain under a Stay at Home order.

Elrich can talk all he wants. Our MC businesses are dying on the vine. Start loosening up or there will no jobs and more importantly for Elrich, no tax revenue to waste on frivolous programs. Me? I’m headed up to Frederick to shop and walk around as they are open for business.
You will have a serious problem on your hands Marc erlich. Obviously you don’t care about the people who are out of work.

You DO NOT have the authority for stay at home orders. They are NOT in the Constitution. YOU are killing people not the virus. YOU are collapsing businesses. YOU are increasing suicides, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression NOT the virus. YOU are prohibiting commerce, travel and the education of our children NOT the virus. But you DO NOT have the Constitutional authority.
If you go up to Frederick shopping like it’s all good and you will either spread the virus or catch it. Elrich is making the right call here. Dead people can’t work or earn a living. Be smart and stay at home. Your shopping trip can wait.
Does Erlick really think people are staying in how about people in other counties coming to Montgomery County an did he think about are totals going up after they made the nursing home report there deaths its so said people in Montgomery County going hungry loosing everything they have but none of the mayors or govoners have given up any of there salaries to help these people .
Since when can a municipal corporation (a charter party) make policies that determine what its people can do. By the way the stay at home order was an executive order which is not a law (passed in house of delegates and senate by 2/3 vote). Executive orders only apply to the executive branch and only the general assembly can make laws (Article III of the state constitution). These agents are operating on color of law and have no right to tell the people of the state what to do. The state can regulate licensed businesses, but what these public servants (not civil authorities) are doing is de facto.
