More Than One-Third of COVID-19 Cases are in Montgomery County
As of Sunday morning, there are 244 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Maryland. Montgomery County residents accounted for 83 of those cases, or 34 percent of all cases in the state.
The Montgomery County cases jumped by 15 from Saturday.
On Saturday evening, the MDH announced that a Montgomery County woman in her 40s died as a result of COVID-19. Hers marked the state’s third death. She “suffered from underlying medical conditions,” according to MDH, which did not specify her medical problems.
Anyone who does not have health insurance should know that Maryland’s health insurance program is open for a special enrollment period. The deadline to enroll is April 15. The Maryland Health Connection website has information.

These numbers are false. I have symptoms of COVID-19 and went to Adventist Emergency care. After testing negative for the flu I was informed that I would be treated as having coronavirus, however they only had 5 COVID-19 test kits that were being reserved for the most severe cases. I was sent home to self quarantine, but because of the lack of tests I am a non-confirmed case. There were dozens of patients there, at the same time as me, for the same reasons. I can only imagine how many are treated in this manner, daily.
We need more tests. I would certainly like to know for sure if I do have COVID-19.
While the ratios don’t work out, Montgomery County does have the largest population.
MoCo is surprisingly diverse, urban, suburban and almost rural. It would be helpful to know more about how the cases are clustered. Are they mostly near ground zero around Rockville, on the Red Line, urban centers, or ???
