MOCO Mask Makers: Volunteer Group Sews Free Masks for Community

MOCO Mask Makers is a volunteer group that sews free face masks for the Montgomery County community. 

Since Saturday, Marylanders have been required to wear face coverings in retail stores and on public transportation to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Theresa Hiatt, logistics coordinator for MOCO Mask Makers, says the group has delivered over 4,000 masks and has requests for about 7,000. Most volunteers are mothers, she said. Anyone can request masks on MOCO Mask Makers’ website, and administration members will fulfill orders based on need.
