Holy Cross Accepting Handmade Face Masks, Other Donations
Holy Cross Health is accepting monetary and equipment donations, including homemade face masks.
Both hospital locations in Germantown and Silver Spring are accepting 100 percent cotton masks that meet certain requirements like layering and size.
Holy Cross Health is accepting monetary donations to its COVID-19 Response Fund. Donations will go toward getting medical and personal protective equipment (PPE). It’s also accepting direct PPE donations, as well as medical equipment and cleaning supplies. The only homemade items that are accepted are masks. Everything else must be new, unopened and not expired.
Food for employees is also accepted, however not homemade. Food for patients is not accepted. Comfort items like blankets and self-care donations like toothbrushes are also not allowed for patients.
Donations are accepted between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday in blue bins in front of both hospitals. Holy Cross Health asks that you call ahead to coordinate a drop-off time in order to maintain as much social distancing as possible. Donations at any other time have to be arranged.
Yesterday we posted about how to craft your own face mask. 😷 Do you have leftover material? Make more masks and DONATE them! Local hospitals like Holy Cross are in need of #PPE, including cloth masks. #donate #facemask #facemasks4all 📷: @holycrosshealth https://t.co/wqoFw5UWUP pic.twitter.com/fBFvDoHpom

The Neighborhood Mask Making Project, with dozens of members from Silver Spring and surrounding communities, is PROUD to be among the donors of homemade face masks to Holy Cross Hospital. HCH has been here for our families at times of need, and we are dedicated to helping protect staff at this critical moment.
