Hogan Will Let Jurisdictions Make Decisions About Reopening, Elrich Says

Ahead of Gov. Larry Hogan’s press conference at 5 p.m., Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said the governor will leave it to local jurisdictions to decide how far to reopen.

Elrich said he and officials from other counties in Maryland had a conversation with Hogan, and said that the governor understands the COVID-19 situation is dramatically different among counties.

“We’re going to be able to continue to make our decisions based on science, and the governor actually expects us to do that,” Elrich said at a virtual media briefing Wednesday. Hogan is expected to give an update at Wednesday’s press conference on stage one of Maryland’s reopening.

The citizens of Montgomery county expect to be following Governor Hogan’s. Safe opening policy Friday. Hoping the county council does not take that away from us.
