Five Things to Know Today, Oct. 2, in Montgomery County

It’s Friday, Oct. 2, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. Business Briefing: Council President Sidney Katz hosts a virtual meeting at 12:30 p.m. Friday on business and economic development amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Kelly Leonard, host for Montgomery Community Media’s Small Business Network, as well as Katheryn Hoerster, owner and operator of Nothing Bundt Cakes in Silver Spring join Council President Katz for the discussion.  Submit questions by email to Councilmember.Katz@montgomerycountymd.gov. Also, email the Council President to register.

2. Bethesda Food Distribution:  A group of nonprofits, businesses and churches are distributing food every Friday from now through October in Bethesda at the Bethesda Chevy-Chase Rescue Squad located at 5020 Battery Lane. The hours are from 1 to 3 p.m.

3. Nursing Home Visits:  Gov. Larry Hogan announced Thursday that nursing homes could resume indoor visits effective immediately as part of Maryland’s third pandemic recovery phase. Montgomery County is still in phase two, so this does not apply to senior living facilities in the county.

4. Board of Elections Meeting:  The Montgomery County Board of Elections meets virtually Friday at 4:15 p.m. The meeting agenda may be found here. The meeting is open to the public and broadcast using Microsoft Teams.
