5 Things to Know Today, Nov. 8, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, Nov. 8, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Council Media Briefing: Council President Tom Hucker and Vice President Gabe Albornoz will hold a virtual media briefing today at 11:30 a.m. to introduce legislation to create an Early Care and Education Coordinating Entity. A public health update will be provided by Sean O’Donnell. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page here.

2. Vaccinations for Children:  COVID-19 vaccinations for 5-11 year olds started Thursday in Montgomery County. Currently there is a limited vaccine supply and appointments are required. Pharmacies, private physicians and county clinics offer the vaccine.

3. Municipal Monday:  The Kensington Town Mayor and Council meet from 7 to 8 p.m. virtually on Zoom.  The meeting agenda may be found here. Rockville’s Mayor and Council meet virtually at 7 p.m. with a full agenda.

4. Leaf Collection: The county’s annual leaf vacuuming begins today and the schedule is posted online. The county collects leaves from an area bounded by I-495; the Rockville City limits; Norbeck, Bel Pre and Bonifant Road; Northwest Branch Park; and the D.C. and P.G. county lines.

5. Montgomery County Recreation: Winter registration is now available for county recreation and parks classes and programs. The winter guide is available online.
