Five Things to Know for Jan. 22 in Montgomery County

As you’ve probably noticed it’s really cold today on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Bundle up in extra layers, turn on the heat, and check out five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Council is in session: Montgomery County Council meets today. Check the council’s website for updates about the agenda they will review.

2. Budget Forum:  County Executive Marc Elrich is hosting another FY20 Operating Budget at Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center in Silver Spring. The event is open to the public and starts at 7 p.m.

3. Trash Pickup Holiday Schedule:  If you use a recycling and trash collection service provided by Montgomery County, and were supposed to have your trash picked up yesterday, your trash will instead be picked up today. Anyone who normally gets their recycling and trash picked up today will have their schedule shifted to tomorrow. Check out for the holiday recycling/trash collection schedule for more information.

4. LinkedIn Workshop: Want to learn how to best use Linkedin? Work Source Montgomery is hosting a “Why Linkedin” workshop at the East County Regional Service Center’s training room from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

5. Author Talk: Herb Simmens, author of “A Climate Vocabulary of the Future” will be speaking about his book today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Chevy Chase Library. Here’s more details about the event.
