5 Things to Know Today, July 6, In Montgomery County
Today is Tuesday, July 6 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Libraries Reopen: The last seven Montgomery County Public Libraries reopen today. They are the Chevy Chase, Kensington Park, Maggie Nightingale, Noyes Library for the Young, Twinbrook, and Whiteoak branches. MCPL Director Anita Vassallo talks about this and other topics in a short video.
2. COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics: The vaccine clinic at the Upcounty Regional Services Center in Germantown opens today to replace the Montgomery College Germantown Campus mass vaccination site that closed Friday, July 2. Vaccines are available for ages 12 and up at numerous locations. Find the schedule of clinics online here. Appointments are available online or by email, residents may also walk in without an appointment.
3. Municipal Meetings: Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council meet virtually at 7:30 p.m. for a regular session followed by a closed executive session. The Poolesville Town Commissioners meet virtually at 7 p.m. and the agenda may be found online. The Mayor and Council of Rockville meet virtually at 6 p.m. for a work session on the comprehensive plan for the neighborhoods of Potomac Woods, Orchard Ridge, Falls Ridge, Woodley Gardens, and College Gardens. 4. Nonprofit Grant Fund Opens: The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) is offering grant funding for local nonprofits that focus on minority and women entrepreneurship, STEM education, research innovation development, or small-scale manufacturing. MCEDC opens applications today.
5. Public Transportation and Face Masks: Just a reminder that federal guidelines require anyone using public transportation to wear a face mask covering their mouth and nose. At this time the requirement continues through at least Sept. 13.

Local examples include all @RideOnMCT buses, Metrorail, Metrobus, taxis or on-demand car services.
