UnNaugural Concert Raises Money for Progressive Causes (VIDEO)

More than 500 people who are passionate about equal rights, civil liberties, environmental issues and other progressive causes filled Montgomery College’s Cultural Arts Center the night of the Inauguration. The sold-out UnNaugural concert in Silver Spring lifted spirits and raised money for Planned Parenthood and four other national organizations.

State Senator Cheryl Kagan produced the January 20th event with help from dozens of volunteers. Kagan says about $30,000 of the proceeds collected from ticket sales and CD purchases will be divided among the five organizations. They include Planned Parenthood, American Civil Liberties Union, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, League of Conservation Voters and the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force.

The concert performers and Dawson’s Market also donated a portion of their proceeds. Donations for the five organizations are still be accepted through PayPal on the UnNaugural Concert website.
