Two Prince George’s County men have been charged with attempted second-degree murder and other offenses connected with a shooting that occurred in the Forest Glen area last week, Montgomery County police said in a statement.

Edward Jones, 28, of Oxon Hill and Jeremy Smith, 25, of Upper Marlboro are both being held without bail, according to online court records.

The shooting occurred April 26, and police do not believe this was a random incident, the statement said.

About 4:19 p.m., police were sent to the sound of shots fired near Woodland Drive and Myrtle Road in Forest Glen, police said. A caller saw three vehicles, including a gold Cadillac SUV, traveling at a high rate of speed through the neighborhood, police said. Minutes later, officers were dispatched to the sound of shots fired and cars driving away in the area of Belvedere Boulevard, police said. Officers found three shell casings on Belvedere Boulevard, police said.

Around the time of these calls, an officer who was in a marked cruiser and stopped at a red light on southbound Colesville Road at Dale Drive, saw two vehicles traveling southbound on Colesville Road in the northbound lanes against traffic.  The officer pulled over the two vehicles, police said. Occupants said the driver of one of the cars had just been shot at by someone in a Cadillac Escalade. No one was struck by any of the bullets.  Police said the car’s driver’s side had multiple bullet holes.  The occupants provided a description of the shooter.

Residents in the area were able to confirm the suspect vehicle (an Escalade) and the shooter’s physical description (to include his carrying of a back pack).  One resident provided a partial tag for the Escalade, police said.

An officer circulating the area found the gold Escalade and pulled it over in the 8800 block of Colesville Road, police said. Officers detained two occupants; the driver was identified as Smith, police said.

A resident in the 700 block of Dale Drive flagged down an officer who was driving in the area and said he had seen a man running through yards, police said. Officers found the man, identified as Jones, hiding to the rear of a home on Dale Drive.  Jones’ book bag was found discarded in the area, police said. Officers found an amount of marijuana indicative of distribution, a handgun, a digital scale, plastic bags, and an empty gun magazine in the book bag.

Jones was charged with attempted second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, firearm-related charges, and drug-related charges.  Smith was charged with attempted second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.

Not sure this makes sense. Contradictory. Part of the story on two PGC men arrested in shooting in Forest Glen area.

“The officer pulled over the two vehicles, police said. Occupants said the driver of one of the cars had just been shot at by someone in a Cadillac Escalade. No one was struck by any of the bullets. Police said the car’s driver’s side had multiple bullet holes.”
