Police Investigate Fatal Vehicle Crash on Darnestown Road (PHOTOS)

UPDATED Montgomery County police officers are investigating a fatal and fiery one-vehicle crash on Darnestown Road between Germantown Road and White’s Ferry Road.

Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson Pete Piringer said the driver was killed in this collision overnight.

The police department’s preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Darnestown Road, around 3 a.m., when for reasons still under investigation the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the eastbound shoulder. Police said the vehicle came to rest on the westbound shoulder of Darnestown Road.

According to police, a portion of Darnestown Road was closed during the morning rush hour as the investigation was underway at the scene. The road has since reopened.
