The Washington Spirit announced today that Mark Parsons has stepped down as the team’s head coach and general manager.

“On behalf of the Spirit organization, we’d like to thank Mark for his tremendous efforts to build a championship team from the pros to the academy,” said Ashlee Comber, vice president of operations. “It has been an absolute pleasure to work alongside Mark. He is an amazing human-being, and we wish him and his family all the best.”

Parsons was named head coach mid-season in 2013 after serving as the Washington Spirit Reserves Head Coach. He finished with an overall record of 20-24-13 and led the Spirit to the playoffs in 2014 and 2015.
