You are invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Progress Place homeless facility on October 1.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 11:30 a.m., at 8110 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, behind Fire Station #1.

County Executive Isiah Leggett will be joined at the event by Council President George Leventhal, Councilmember Tom Hucker, General Services Director David Dise, Health and Human Services Director Uma Ahluwalia, and Charles Nulsen, president of Washington Properties.

The groundbreaking is a realization of a public-private partnership with Bethesda-based developer Washington Property Company. The new Progress Place facility will be home to programs already operating out of the current location including services to low income and homeless populations in the Silver Spring area, but will now also include 21 personal living quarters on the fourth floor to provide long term housing solutions for homeless and displaced families.
