Five Things to Know for Oct. 25 in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know today, Oct. 25, in Montgomery County:

1. Early Voting:  Today is the first day for early voting at 11 locations around the county. Here’s a comprehensive look at local races and news, information and candidate statements for the upcoming General Election.  More information can be found by clicking here.

2. FLASH Bus Rapid Transit News:  County Executive Leggett and other officials will celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Bus Rapid Transit line along Route 29.

3. Resource Fair:  The public libraries host a free senior resource fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kensington Park Library to connect seniors to the numerous library and county resources available.

4. Public Safety Forum:  The Germantown Alliance, a community group, is holding a meeting open to the public at the UpCounty Regional Services Center from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The Police Department will provide an update on crime in Germantown.

5. Film Screening and Community Dialogue on Suicide:  Montgomery County officials, area hospitals and mental health advocates are hosting a screening of a documentary, The “S” Word, about suicide survivors, at AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring.  The film will be followed by a presentation and a question and answer session.
