Five Things to Know for Nov. 5 in Montgomery County

It’s Monday, Nov. 5, and here are five things Montgomery County residents need to know:

1. Coat Drive: The Takoma Park Police Department, in partnership with the Takoma Park Adventist Church, is collecting clean, gently used warm coats in any size from infant to adult. The coats will be donated to people in need. A large box will be in the lobby of the Takoma Park Police Department, 7500 Maple Ave., Takoma Park, and will remain there till 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14.

2. The Carter Years: Stuart Eizenstat discusses his book “President Carter: The White House Years.” Eizenstat was Carter’s chief domestic policy adviser. The event starts at 7 p.m. and it takes place at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington in Rockville. Facebook has the details.

3. Municipal Monday: The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Here’s the agenda.

4. Library Cards for Kids: Montgomery County Public Libraries are encouraging parents to get library cards for their children. See the tweet:
