Five Things to Know for May 30 in Montgomery County

Today is Thursday, May 30, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Brain Cancer Awareness Walk: St Coletta, a non-profit organization serving adults with intellectual disabilities and supporting their families, is inviting people to support the walk and future efforts in community engagements.  This event will take place at 5301 Marinelli Road in Rockville from 11 a.m. – noon.

2. Bethesda Summer Concert Series: This series features free Thursday evening concerts from 6 – 8 p.m. in Veterans Park, located at the corner of Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues in Bethesda. This week the 19th Street Band (Folk) will be performing. Click  here for more information.

3. 5th Annual Autism / IDD Night Out: This event is part of the Montgomery County Police Autism/IDD Outreach program’s layered approach to safety and awareness through education, outreach, follow up, empowerment, and response. This is an opportunity to learn about introductions and interactions between those who have Autism/IDD and Montgomery County Police Department officers. 4. Silver Spring Art Walk: The Montgomery Planning Department, Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District, and Silver Spring Urban District invite you to an art walk in Silver Spring.  May’s tour will feature water and kinetic sculptures, as well as digital and audio art in the district. The tour will begin with a meet-up and drink at Denizen’s Brewing Co [1115 East West Highway] from 5:30-6 p.m.; then from 6-8 p.m. there will be an artwork discussion and tour throughout Silver Spring. 5. Wings of Fancy Live Butterfly and Caterpillar Exhibit: Just a friendly reminder that Brookside Gardens is fluttering with butterflies at the seasonal Wings of Fancy Butterfly and Caterpillar exhibit. Interact with hundreds of native and exotic butterflies from North America, Costa Rica, Africa, and Asia.  Click here for more information.
