Five Things to Know for May 3 in Montgomery County
More showers and thunderstorms likely today, Friday, May 3. Here is a rundown of five more things to know in Montgomery County:
1. Council Committee Work: The Health and Human Services and Education and Culture Committees jointly discuss the budget amendment request for the County’s Early Care and Education initiative at 9:30 a.m. The Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee consider budget amendments for urban districts, recreation, and incubator programs at 2 p.m. Watch the meetings live, here.
2. I-495 / I-270 Townhall: Councilmember Tom Hucker hosts a community meeting on the state’s proposed transportation project to widen I-495 and I-270. The meeting is scheduled for Sunday, May 5 at the Silver Spring Civic Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
3. Rockville Arts Festival: The 7th annual Rockville Arts Festival is set for May 4 – 5 with an outdoor art gallery on the streets of Rockville Town Square. Performances by local musicians and dance troupes, as well as demonstrations will take place. Also, everyone is encouraged to participate in a community mosaic project to honor the legacy of Mattie Stepanek.

5. Tour de Cookie: Hundreds of cyclists are taking part in the Tour de Cookie to benefit the Tree House Child Assessment Center of Montgomery County, Saturday, May 4.
And one more thing: Learn biking skills to ride on county streets and use bikes for transportation, recreation and fitness in this class taught by the Washington Area Bicyclists Association and Montgomery County Department of Transportation.
