Comprehensive Early Childhood Education Plan Announced

A press conference was held this week to introduce an Early Care and Education Initiative. The four-year action plan was announced by County Executive Marc Elrich, Council President Nancy Navarro, and the County Council, as well as MCPS Superintendent Jack Smith, Montgomery College President Dr. DeRionne Pollard, local childcare providers, and other community leaders. The vision of the comprehensive initiative will ensure that all children in the County between zero to five years of age will have access to quality and affordable early care and education services.

Elrich says $7 million will be included in the county budget to go towards the initiative to increase the number of child care seats for infants to five-year-olds, especially those living in the highest need areas of the county.
