Five Things to Know for May 23 in Montgomery County

Today is Thursday, May 23 and here is a rundown of five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. Montgomery County Celebrates Building Safety Month: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and the Montgomery County Council will recognize Building Safety Month with a joint proclamation as they honor the educators, mentors and safety officials who keep our communities safe for the future. This event will take place at the Executive Office Building [101 Monroe Street] at 12:30 pm.

2. Ride Smart for Seniors: In this two-day workshop seniors will be able to learn how to travel to destinations, how to read Ride On & Metro bus schedules, and how to read the Metro system map and understand fare schedules.  This event will take place at 201 Russell Ave in Gaithersburg from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. 3. Bethesda Summer Concert Series: This series features free Thursday evening concerts from 6 – 8 pm in Veterans Park, located at the corner of Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues. Attendees can purchase food, beer and wine from downtown Bethesda restaurants during the concert.

4. “To Life” Health and Wellness Expo: The 10th annual “To Life” Health and Wllness Expo will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Leisure World in Silver Spring [ 3700 Rossmoor Blvd.]

5. Learn about Frogs and Toads at the 2nd Frog Watch Field Training: Join staff from the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection for a training on all there is to know about local frogs and toads, their mating calls, and the Montgomery County Frog Watch Chapter.  This will be held from 8 – 9 pm in the parking lot of the Meadowside Nature Center in Aspen Hill [ 5100 Meadowside Lane, Rockville].
