Five Things to Know for March 24 in Montgomery County

Today is Tuesday, March 24 and here are five things you need to know in Montgomery County:

1. Council in Session:  Montgomery County Council is in session, but remotely, at 12:30 p.m. Here’s a look at the meeting’s agenda. During the meeting Councilmember Nancy Navarro will introduce a resolution calling on the council to “exercise spending restraint” on the budget.

2. Nonessential Businesses Closed:  On Monday, Gov. Larry Hogan announced all nonessential businesses are officially closed to combat coronavirus. Hogan also announced funds to help small businesses affected by COVID-19.

3. The Children’s Inn at NIH Requests Community Support: The Children’s Inn at NIH in Bethesda, which helps families around the world with children who have rare diseases, is asking people to make donations to its Feeding Families Fund. People can also donate look online at a list of needed non-perishable food supplies and make a donation.

4. Maryland State Board of Education Meets: Maryland State Board of Education meets via teleconference starting at 9 a.m. and the public is welcome to listen in.

5. Montgomery County Public Libraries Has New Online Learning Platform: The library may be closed, but Montgomery County Public Libraries has a new online learning platform people can officially use.
