It’s Friday, June 14 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Summer Vacation: It’s the last day of school for Montgomery County Public Schools students. Today is an early release day for MCPS.
2. Councilmember for a Day challenge: Today is the last day to submit an entry in Councilmember Rice’s contest for high school students. The winner will shadow Councilmember Rice for a day in the fall, be the guest of honor at a Council breakfast, receive a Council proclamation, and participate in a full Council meeting.
3. Free Deck inspections: Montgomery County’s Department of Permitting Services is extending free residential deck inspections into the summer.
4. Meet the Artists reception: The current exhibit at Gallery B in downtown Bethesda features the work of the eight finalists in the annual Bethesda Painting Awards. Tonight, the gallery hosts a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. that is open to the public. The gallery is located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E in downtown Bethesda.
5. Juneteenth Celebration: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will host the county’s 23rd Juneteenth Celebration at the BlackRock Center for the Arts Saturday evening. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
