Five Things to Know for July 13 in Montgomery County

It’s Monday, July 13, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. County Council Happenings:  The council will interview applicants to serve on the new Policing Advisory Commission at 4:30 p.m. today. Two committees meet virtually today and may be viewed live on YouTube or Facebook. The Planning, Housing, and Economic Development Committee meets at 9:30 a.m. The Education and Culture Committee meets at 1:30 p.m.

3. Municipal Monday: Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council meet for a work session at 7:30 p.m. Here’s the agenda and virtual meeting information may be found here. The Kensington Town Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m.  Here’s the agenda and the information to join the zoom meeting.

4. Bill Nye on Face Masks:  The Science Guy took to the video sharing social networking service TikTok to demonstrate why face masks are important in combating the spread of COVID-19.

5. MCM Youth Summer Camp: Montgomery Community Media (MCM) will offer four one-week virtual camps for youth ages 12 and up. The Podcasting Camp will be offered the week of July 13th and the week of July 27. The Smartphone Video Production Camp will be offered the week of July 20 and the week of August 3.
