MCM Virtual Youth Camp: Podcasting

In this 5-day camp, youth will capture the art of telling a story or doing an interview through podcasting. Campers will work through a series of activities led by an instructor that will result in a final edited podcast. Before stepping to the microphone, campers will learn the pre-production process, methods to recording their podcasts right from their computer or mobile device, and then finally editing their segment with adding some music to give it a real professional touch to share with family and friends.
Prerequisites: To participate in camp, campers will need a mobile device or computer that captures audio to complete the project. To fully participate in all camp activities, it is strongly recommended that a second device is used to join the video conference instructional sessions.

What will I need for camp? Campers will need to provide their own device to capture audio (computer or tablet) as well as another device to participate in the morning and afternoon instructor led zoom sessions. They may also need paper and a pencil for planning their podcast project.
Can my camper use the same mobile device for recording video and participating in camp sessions? It is strongly recommend that camper have access to 2 separate devices to be able to fully participate in the camp.
Do I need to register each camper in my household separately? Yes, each campers will need to register separately. However, campers in the same household can share devices to participate in instructional sessions and completion of activities.
What ages are eligible for camp? The camp is for ages 12 and up. When possible campers will be paired with campers their own age and/or household during breakout sessions. The oldest age someone can sign-up for camp is 17. Students 18 and up should look at MCM adult classes.
Will this camp be offered on other dates? Yes, the other session for the Podcasting Camp are July 27th – July 31st.
What other virtual camps does MCM have? MCM will be offering a Youth Smartphone Video Production Camp. The first session dates are July 20th – July 24th and the second session is August 3rd – August 7th.
