Five Things to Know for Jan. 23 in Montgomery County

It’s supposed to rain today, Wednesday, Jan. 23, but on the bright side, it’s getting warmer. In the meantime, here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Kensington-Wheaton Business Networking Expo:  Today is the third annual Kensington-Wheaton Business Networking Expo from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Kensington’s Town Hall on Mitchell Street. This is an opportunity to connect with organizations, businesses, Kensington Mayor Tracey Furman, and members of the Kensington Town Council. The event is free.

2. Budget Forum: County Executive Marc Elrich is hosting another FY20 Operating Budget Forum at Mid-County Recreation Center in Silver Spring. The event is open to the public and starts at 7 p.m.

3. Discussion with Maya Rockeymoore Cummings: The Maryland Democratic Business Council is hosting a roundtable discussion with Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, the chair of Maryland’s Democratic Party. The event is from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. in the Democratic Business Council’s office space, suite 330 on 92-1 Corporate Boulevard in Rockville.

4. Furlough Feast:  Rockville United Church is hosting a Furlough feast today from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Anyone financially hurting from the government shutdown can come together for a meal. RSVP ahead of time by emailing esw@rockvilleunitedchurch.org.

5. Beaver Information Session: Here’s an opportunity to learn more about beavers! That’s right, beavers! Representatives from Great Seneca Park Ranger Services is partnering with the City of Gaithersburg and Muddy Branch Alliance for an educational discussion and presentation about beavers. The event is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lakelands Community Association, at 960 Main Street, in Gaithersburg.
