Five Things to Know for Feb. 5 in Montgomery County
Today is Tuesday, Feb. 5., and it’s the start of Lunar New Year! Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Council in Session: The County Council meets today at 9:30 a.m. Check out the agenda for the meeting here.
2. Public Hearing: There will be a public hearing today in the Council Council Office Building in Rockville from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The topics that will be discussed are the FY20 capital budget and amendments to the FY19-24 Capital Improvements Program. Also, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commissions’ FY20-25 Capital Improvements Program will be discussed.
3. Montgomery College Town Hall Meeting: Dr. DeRionne Pollard is returning from her sabbatical and Montgomery College is hosting an extended town hall. The town hall will be held in the Rockville Campus’ Theatre Arts Building from 2 to 4 p.m.

4. Lunar New Year Scavenger Hunt: Long Branch Library is holding a special scavenger hunt to celebrate the Year of the Pig. Elementary school age and younger children earn a prize when they find a hidden pig.
5. Transit Gap Analysis Workshop: The City of Rockville is holding a Transit Gap Analysis and Needs Assessment Public Workshop today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rockville City Hall. As the city continues to study the need for transit in Rockville, they are looking to receive more feedback from community members about how Rockville’s transit needs could be improved upon.
