Today is Wednesday, Aug. 7. and it’s Lighthouse Day! Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Montgomery County Recreation Career Fair: Montgomery County Department of Recreation is hosting a career fair tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Recreation Administrative Office, at 4010 Randolph Road in Silver Spring. People should bring resumes and be ready to discuss their skills and experiences. Here’s more information.

2. Film Screening and Community Forum in Silver Spring: A community forum at the Silver Spring Civic Building will explore lynching in Montgomery County. Montgomery County’s Human Rights Commission, the Office of Human Rights, the Department of Police, and the Committee Against Hate/Violence are hosting the forum at 6:45 p.m. and will screen two movies: “This Little Light of Mine: The Legacy of Fannie Lou Hamer,” a documentary by Robin Hamilton of ARound Robin Productions and “Burning: The Lynching of George Armwood,” a documentary by Will Schwarz.

3. Dispose of Unused Medications: Montgomery County police and the Department of Recreation are hosting a Medication Take Back Event from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Mid-County Recreation Center in Silver Spring.

4. Blood Drive: There’s going to be a blood drive from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the police headquarters in Gaithersburg today.

5. Full Traffic Stops on I-270 Starting Tonight: Starting at 11:50 p.m., the State Highway Administration will assist Verizon with short-term total stoppages on both directions of I-270 near MD 109 (Old Hundred Road) in northern Montgomery County.
