Five Things to Know for April 26 in Montgomery County

Today is Friday, April 26 and here is a rundown of five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. Council Committee Meetings: Four of the six committees meet today.  The Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee meets jointly with the Public Safety Committee at 9:30 a.m. in the seventh-floor hearing room.  The Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee meets at 10 a.m. in the third-floor hearing room.  The Health and Human Services Committee meets with the Education and Culture Committee at 1:30 p.m. in the seventh-floor hearing room. 2. Countryside Artisans Spring Tour: Spend a day in the country on a free, self-guided driving tour of artist studios and galleries through scenic Montgomery County. April 26 – 28, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day.

3. Special Education Summit:  Montgomery County Public Schools’ sixth annual summit for parents, staff and community members takes place Saturday, April 27. More information is available, here.

4. Kensington Book Festival: Kensington’s International Day of the Book festival is set for Sunday, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Howard Avenue. The schedule for the day may be found online, here.

5. Montgomery County’s GreenFest: This free festival focused on the environment takes place Sunday, April 28 at Brookside Gardens. The festival includes exhibits, workshops, music and more.

And one more thing: The 30th annual Rockville Science Day takes place Sunday, April 28 at Montgomery College and features a variety of science and technology-related exhibits, activities, games and demos.
