Covering the Relay for Life of Rockville event on June 1 was a touching experience. I actually ran into a good friend of mine and didn’t know that he lost a cousin to cancer. Attending events like the one at Tilden Middle School serves as a reminder that life is precious.

Everyone is affected by cancer in one way or another, so the Relay For Life of Rockville event is very personal to those who attend. Some families have recently lost the person that they are relaying for.

If you would have told me that brooms could conduct electricity, I would have said ‘I don’t think so.’ Thanks to a Pepco training on hurricane preparedness in Rockville on May 29 I will live to see another day.

Earlier today I covered the first Small Business Awards luncheon and it was exciting. Montgomery County has over 30,000 small businesses and eight of of them were recognized at the luncheon. Look forward to a story unveiling the heads of each of these innovative companies and the impact they make on the local marketplace.
