Five Things to Know for June 29 in Montgomery County

Today is Monday, June 29, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Playgrounds Begin Reopening: Montgomery Parks will begin gradually reopening playgrounds today. Parks reminds residents to wear a face covering, stay six feet apart, and clean your hands before and after using playground equipment.

Beginning Monday, June 29, we begin to gradually open up playgrounds.

When playing:
*Wear a face covering.
*Stay six feet apart.
*Clean your hands before and after use.

It may take up to two weeks to reopen all 276 playgrounds.

2. MCPL Bookdrops Resume: The Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) announced that bookdrops are reopening today. Branch telephone services will be resuming today as well.

3. Metrobus Service Increases: Metrobus service will be increased on the 14 busiest bus lines. 136 additional trips will be added to the following routes: 54, 70, 92, 30N, 30S, A4, A6, A8, P6, V4, W4, F4, P12, and T18. However, bus service will temporarily be suspended on the following routes with low ridership, according to Metro: NH2, C14, G2 and M6. More service changes will be made for other routes as well.

4. Police Food Drive: Montgomery County Police will hold a food drive at Olney Elementary School from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. This is a donation point, no food distributions will be made.

5. Bike Match: If you have a bike you don’t use, consider donating it to someone in need through BikeMatchMoCo.
