Five Things to Know for March 12 in Montgomery County

Today is Tuesday, March 12. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Council in Session: The Montgomery County Council is meeting today at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Hearing Room in Rockville. Check out the agenda for today’s meeting.

2. Redistricting Maps Meeting: Governor Larry Hogan’s Emergency Commission on Sixth Congressional District Gerrymandering has approved a “proposed redistricting map with adjusted district boundary lines for the Sixth Congressional District.” Montgomery County residents can go to a public meeting and commission workshop to learn about the map tonight at 7 p.m. at the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown.

3. Ale Tapping Party: Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery in Bethesda is hosting a Fire Chief Ale Tapping party tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Montgomery County Career Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation. Also, 25 cents for each pint of “Fire Chief Ale” will be donated to the foundation through the month of April. There will be a silent auction, raffles, and more fun. 4. Learn about DNA testing: John M. Butler, NIST Fellow & Special Assistant to the Director for Forensic Science, will answer the question “Will DNA Testing Help My Family History Research?” at the Rockville Senior Center from 1 to 2 p.m.  The Rockville Science Center is hosting the event for its Tuesday lecture series that meets on the second Tuesday of each month.
