5 Things to Know Today, Sept. 22, In Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 22, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. Weekly Media Briefing: County Executive Marc Elrich, Acting Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Earl Stoddard and other county officials will hold their media briefing at 12:30 p.m. Residents can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD), County Cable Montgomery and on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

2. Car Free Day: It’s Car Free Day — an effort to promote greener transportation and spread awareness about the environmental impact of greenhouse gasses. Residents can sign a car-free pledge and enter to win various raffle prizes including gift certificates, electronics and t-shirts.

3. Drive-Thru Food Distribution: Stop by South Lake Elementary School in Gaithersburg from 1-2:30 p.m. to receive boxed groceries in your car.

4. Outdoor Family Storytime: At 10:30 a.m., Montgomery County Public Libraries has outdoor family storytime opportunities at Kensington Park Library and Wheaton Library. Bring a blanket to sit on.

5. Senior Planet: Senior Planet Montgomery continues to offer free Zoom classes to senior residents. Today’s classes include “Facebook Basics” and “Voice Assistants.”
