1.Minimum Wage Increase: County Executive Marc Elrich will be joined by State and local officials, along with workers and community leaders, to celebrate the increase of the minimum wage that goes into effect today. At noon, the event will take place in the Social Hall, on the second floor, at the Wheaton Community Recreation Center located at 11701 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.

2. Flash Flood Watch: The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for Montgomery County starting this afternoon until tomorrow morning.
Flooding kills more people every year than any other weather hazard. Do not drive through flooded areas. If you live in a flood prone area, be prepared to move to higher ground if flooding develops. Please stay alert for any warnings!🌧️

3. Walk in The Park: Each Thursday, there’s an opportunity to meet at a different park in Montgomery County for a 50-minute walk and meet other seniors who have been looking forward to getting outside. According to the registration website, there are 12 openings remaining to join the group.

MCPS Student Member of The Board: Hana O’Looney, a rising senior at Richard Montgomery High School, will be sworn in as the 44th Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB) for the 2021–2022 school year today at 5:00 p.m., at Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville. The swearing-in ceremony will be livestreamed on MCPS TV and on the MCPS website.
