Halloween is over and we’ve noticed a few Holiday events that might be of interest. Olney Theatre’s production of Mary Poppins opened this week and runs through the end of the year. The Catholic University Chamber Orchestra performs Peter and the Wolf at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn Saturday. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performs two concerts with selections from The Nutcracker Friday and Sunday. Next weekend the annual Museum Shop Around at Strathmore Mansion features unique gifts from numerous local, state and national museums and art venues.

• Little Feat Guitarists Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett perform in a rare acoustic set at AMP.

Saturday, November 5: 

• You have one last chance to enjoy a Halloween scare at Field of Screams in Olney tonight.
• Help celebrate the grand opening of  Greenbriar Local Park in Travilah.
• The county has a new neighborhood park with the grand opening of Grenbrier Park in Travillah.
• Rockville Musical Theatre presents Shrek the Musical at F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre.
• Montgomery Parks has numerous events planned for Maryland Emancipation Day in Germantown, Olney, Sandy Spring and Wheaton.
• Olney Theatre presents the musical Mary Poppins. (This performance is sold out.)
• Montgomery College presents the dark comedy Natural Causes at the Cultural Arts Center.
• The Darnestown Presbyterian Church Bazaar takes place and includes a silent auction.
• Montgomery Playhouse presents the mystery Postmortem at Gaithersburg Arts Barn.
• The Catholic University of America Chamber Orchestra performs Prokofiev’s classic children’s symphony and story, Peter and the Wolf.
• The Washington Metropolitan Gamer Symphony Orchestra (WMGSO) presents its first full-length small ensemble showcase concert at Living Faith Lutheran Church in Rockville.
• The National Philharmonic performs Handel’s Coronation Anthem No. 1 at the Strathmore Music Center.
• Instrumentalist Edmar Castañeda performs chamber music at BlackRock Center for the Arts.

Sunday, November 6: 

• Rockville Musical Theatre presents Shrek the Musical at F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre.
• Olney Theatre presents the musical Mary Poppins.
• Montgomery Parks has numerous events planned for Maryland Emancipation Day in Germantown, Olney, Sandy Spring and Wheaton.
• Montgomery College presents the dark comedy Natural Causes at the Cultural Arts Center.
• The 41st annual Rockville 10K/5K race begins at the King Farm Village Center.
• Rockville’s November art exhibit at Glenview Mansion opens with a reception and music by blues guitarist and vocalist James Mabry. Artists with work on display include Nancy McNamara, Theresa Martin, John Mors and Meg Schaap.
• Montgomery Playhouse presents the mystery Postmortem at Gaithersburg Arts Barn.
• Blues musician Tab Benoit performs at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club.
• The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performs selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker at Strathmore’s Music Center.
