Silver Spring Blues Week: The Silver Spring Blues Festival is set for Saturday, June 15 in downtown Silver Spring. Daryl Davis with guests Anita Hill and Deletta Gillespie perform a kickoff concert Thursday, June 6 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building.

Gaithersburg’s outdoor concert series: Gaithersburg’s Evenings in Olde Towne Series returns with blues and soul band Fast Eddie and the Slowpokes. The band members include Dan Bourdeaux (bass, guitar, vocals), Vadim Levi (keyboards), Phillip Hough (guitar, percussion, vocals), Lindsay Hough (guitar, bass, vocals), and Chris Compton (drums, guitar, bass, vocals). A Doll’s House, Part 2: Directed by Nicole Watson, this play written by Lucas Hnath is a sequel to Ibsen’s 1879 masterpiece. The play is set 15 years after Nora Helmer leaves her husband. Helmer is looking for closure with her husband in this sequel. Runs through June 30 at various days and times. Prince Birthday Tribute: This concert features lead singer Edward “Junie” Henderson performing as Prince. Henderson and his all-star band perform Prince’s most popular songs including “Purple Rain”, “Let’s Go Crazy”, “When Doves Cry”, “Kiss”, “1999”, “Little Red Corvette”, “Raspberry Beret”, “Pop Life”, “Sign Of The Times”, “I Wanna Be Your Lover” and many more. Friday, June 7 at 7 and 10 p.m. Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club, 7719 Wisconsin Ave.  Doors open at 6 p.m. For more information, click here. $35.

Mary Stuart: Based on the play by Friedrich Schiller, the story is set in the 16th Century. Queen Elizabeth I must decide whether to put her cousin, Mary Queen of Scots to death. Runs through June 9 at Olney Theatre Center, 2001 Olney-Sandy Spring Road. For more information, click here. $69-$74.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra: Marin Alsop leads the orchestra in performing Mahler’s Symphony No. 9. In the Ninth Symphony, Mahler depicts an epic conflict between a lasting love of life and a deepening dread of death.  Sunday, June 8 at 8 p.m. The Music Center at Strathmore.
