A Naturalization Ceremony was held on June 1 at the Gaithersburg Library where 34 new citizens were welcomed from 27 different countries. On Oct. 24th, Montgomery County hosted a salute entitled, “Honor and Gratitude,” to recognize its Vietnam veterans. MyMCMedia’s Sonya Burke reports that it was an emotional ceremony for many who attended the event at The Universities at Shady Grove.

Montgomery County Public Schools officials welcomed more than 156,000 students on the first day of school. That’s the largest enrollment in the district’s history. At a news conference to kick off the first day, local leaders discussed the need for more school construction funding.
