Quince Orchard Wins 4A West Regional Football Title
The Quince Orchard (QO) football team moved one step closer to a date in Annapolis in early December with the 35-0 win over rival Northwest (NW) High School. The win gave QO the 4A West Regional Championship and a possible date with their nemesis Dr Henry A Wise High School next week at home.
One day after the sudden snowstorm that dropped a few inches of snow in the metro area, QO and NW met on QO’s muddy field cleared of snow on the morning of the game by football parents. Scoring excitement during the game was a bit subdued as a result of the poor footing on that field. By late in the first half QO was able to put up two quick scores. After halftime QO found itself with great field position as its defense sacked NW quarterback Jordan Morse on three consecutive plays. They took advantage and eventually put up two more quick scores to make it 28-0 by the end of the third quarter.
A final score at the 11-minute mark put NW behind by 35 and faced a running clock that sealed their fate and put QO into the state semifinals.
