Prescription Drug Drop Boxes Available at Six MCPD District Stations
The following six Montgomery County Police Department District Stations officially have prescription drug disposal boxes available for residents to use: Rockville District, Bethesda District, Silver Spring District, Wheaton District, Germantown District, and the Gaithersburg/Montgomery Village District.
Residents can use these boxes to drop off unused, expired, unwanted prescription medications safely. The boxes are available seven days a week and 24 hours a day. An MCPD news release says, “Drugs can be dropped off with no questions asked.”

MCPD lists the following as acceptable items to drop off:
- Prescriptions
- Vitamins
- Prescription Ointments
- Pet Medications
- Prescription Patches
- Over-the-Counter Medications
The following items are not accepted:
- Needles
- Inhalers
- Aerosol Cans
- Thermometers
- Lotions or Liquids
- Hydrogen Peroxide
Anyone dropping off a prescription should wear a mask and follow regular coronavirus safety practices.
