Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Silver Spring Area (PHOTO)

Montgomery County police officers are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcyclist and a rental truck that occurred Saturday night on University Boulevard and Merrimac Drive.

Around 10:37 p.m., police officers responded to a collision involving a black, 1999, Honda motorcycle that had been involved in a crash with a 2011 GMC Savana rental truck.

Police said the operator of the motorcycle, 23-year-old Jose Lemus of Hyattsville, died from his injuries at the scene of the crash.

According to the police department’s preliminary investigation, the Honda motorcycle was traveling east on University Boulevard and the GMC truck was traveling south on Merrimac Drive. As the truck crossed University Boulevard, police said the truck and the motorcycle collided.

Police said the driver of the rental truck did not report any injuries.

This collision remains under investigation.
