UPDATED: Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Damascus
UPDATED A Damascus teen was killed in a one car crash in Damascus early today, according to Montgomery County Police.
An off-duty Montgomery County police officer discovered the fatal crash in the 8100 block of Damascus Road shortly after 5 a.m. on Sunday morning.
According to the police department’s preliminary investigation, the 2006 Cadillac CTS was traveling east on Damascus Road when the crash occurred. Police said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.
Police have identified the driver as 19-year-old Jeffery Mark Thornton of Damascus. According to police, Thornton died at the scene from his injuries.
This crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed this collision is asked to call the police department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620.
