UPDATED: Bethesda Bicyclist Killed in Collision
UPDATED Montgomery County police officers are investigating a fatal collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle that occurred at about 6:15 a.m. on Friday in the 6000 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Bethesda.
According to the police department’s preliminary investigation, Timothy Aloysius Holden, age 64, of Bethesda, was traveling eastbound on Massachusetts Avenue on a bicycle. Police said he was wearing a helmet.
Police said a driver in a Chevrolet Malibu was also traveling east.
For reasons still under investigation, the Malibu struck the bicycle. Police said Holden died from his injures at the scene.
A memorial is now growing along Massachusetts Avenue where Holden, a former Navy Seal, passed away.
Police say the Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this collision. Anyone with information about this collision is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620.
