UPDATE: Police Identify Victim of Wednesday Night Shooting

UPDATE 2:50 p.m.: The victim in the Wednesday night shooting has been identified as Jon-Christian Kemachet-Webster, 20, Montgomery County police said in a statement.

Detectives do not believe that this homicide was a random act, police said.

 

UPDATE: A shooting Wednesday night in a Forest Glen home turned fatal, a Montgomery County police statement said.

The victim’s name was not included in the statement.

Police learned about the shooting after a call to the county’s 911 center at about 9:51 p.m. The caller said someone entered the home, in the 1600 block of Belvedere Boulevard, and shot an occupant.

The caller also said the person then fled from the home after the shooting. Silver Spring District officers responded to the home and found the victim on the upper level of the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the house and took the victim to a local hospital where he died of his injuries, police said.

Detectives urge anyone with information to call the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070. For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to an arrest. Original post: Montgomery County police officers are on the scene of a shooting in Silver Spring.

According to police, it happened in the 1600 block of Belvedere Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

One person is hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.
