Police ask for Public’s Help In Identifying Germantown Hit and Run Driver (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

Montgomery County police officers are still looking for a hit and run driver that struck 14-year-old Fernando Adona Alvarez. The teen was riding his bike to school on Oct. 6 when a vehicle struck him at the intersection of Wisteria Drive and Great Seneca Highway.

The police department held a news conference today, at the 5^th District Station, where the teen’s father provided a brief description of the driver in question and asked the public for help.

Alvarez has posted between 60-70 flyers with his son’s image asking the public to help find the driver of what he describes as a white SUV/van. He says his son is doing okay now and is back in school, but is still shaken by the accident. “He’s terrified that it’s going to happen again,” Alvarez said. Alvarez has been dropping off and picking up his son from school since the accident, “we don’t want to lose our child,” he said.

Councilmember Craig Rice was also at the news conference and had this to say:

“Fortunately in this instance a young man didn’t lose his life. But I’m sure this incident is going to be something that sticks with him for the rest of his life. And it’s certainly an indicator of what could have been a much more serious incident.”

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision or who has information about this collision to please call the police non-emergency number at 301.279.8000.
