New Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame Announced
It was a beautiful day for a baseball game at Shirley Povich Field at Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda. But there was no game scheduled. Instead, members of the board of directors of the brand new Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame, several Montgomery County councilmembers and former Springbrook High School football star Shawn Springs gathered at the ballpark to announce the launch of the county’s new sports hall of fame. MCSHF will honor athletes, coaches and contributors past and present.
Nominations for the MCSHF will be accepted beginning June 1 through June 30. The induction ceremony will take place September 13 at the Silver Spring Civic Center. No details yet on where the Hall of Fame will be permanently housed. For more information, go to www.mcshf.org
