Jan. 28, 12 p.m. The Red Brick Courthouse in Rockville was damaged by snow. County officials notified Peerless Rockville of the damage on Monday. There was damage to the the roof and sandstone cap and several bricks fell to the walkway.

Jan. 26, 1:24 p.m. At a news briefing at the Bethesda Depot today, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett said residents should see a snow plow do at least one pass down your county street by 7 a.m. tomorrow. If not, call the county.

Jan. 24, 3:13 p.m. A Montgomery County spokesperson tells MyMCMedia that over 60 people stayed at the county’s emergency shelter at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park last night in Gaithersburg. Today, there are over 55 people at the shelter. County Executive Ike Leggett plans to stop by the shelter later this afternoon.

Jan. 23, 12:15 p.m. Over 1,500 Pepco customers are without power in Montgomery County now, according to online outage maps. Crews are working to restore power in Gaithersburg and Takoma Park, according to a Pepco spokesperson.

Jan. 23, 11:04 a.m. The City of Gaithersburg is preparing to open the Activity Center at Bohrer Park to use as a shelter for emergencies, according to Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman. Staff is on the way to prep the facility now.

Jan. 23, 10:56 a.m. The National Weather Service has posted new snow fall totals. Poolesville is reporting 22 inches, Gaithersburg has seen 21 inches, and Germantown is reporting 20 inches.

Jan. 23, 10:30 a.m. Officials at the National Weather Service says the radar can be deceiving, and that heavy snow conditions continue to develop. The message? “Stay indoors.”

 

Jan. 23, 10:21 a.m. There are over 600 Pepco customers without power in Montgomery County, according to online outage maps.

Jan. 23, 10:11 a.m. Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman asks people to stay off the streets. According to Ashman, snow crews are 90-percent thru the first round of plowing but the Mayor says roads are still not safe. Ashman said crews have been at it for ten hours. “It’s gonna be a long day, but we’ll get it clear,” he said.

Jan. 23, 9 a.m. Snow is falling hard and fast in Montgomery County. At the headquarters of Highway Services, officials report that 15 inches has fallen.
