MCPD’s Alcohol Holiday Task Force Targets Drunk Drivers (VIDEO)
UPDATED The Montgomery County Police Department’s Alcohol Holiday Task Force is working to keep impaired drivers off the roads this holiday season.
“We have 20 extra officers out,” said Captain Tom Didone. “We’ll be doing structured enforcement, working to keep the drunk drivers off the roads. The extra strength we have is the passage of Noah’s Law.”
It’s been one year since Montgomery County Police Officer Noah Leotta was fatally struck on Dec. 3, 2015, by a drunk driver while performing a field stop at a Holiday Alcohol Task Force checkpoint in Rockville. Leotta died from his injuries a week later. A new state law, dedicated in his memory, requires ignition interlocks for those convicted of drunk driving.
“Noah’s still on patrol for us,” said Didone.
