Keeping Up With Katie: Bethesda’s Katie Ledecky Wins 2 Medals Thursday at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships
The latest news and information about Olympic champion swimmer and Montgomery County’s own Katie Ledecky.
Katie Ledecky won two medals in the first day of the Pan Pacific swimming championships Thursday, in Tokyo.
In her first race, Ledecky set a meet record with a time of 8:09.13 in the women’s 800-meter freestyle and takes home the gold medal.
Ledecky won bronze in the 200-meter freestyle event with a time of 1:55.16.
The Pan Pacs are held two years after the Olympics and include the swimming federations from Australia, Canada, Japan and the United States. Ledecky is expected to compete in four individual events and possibly in the freestyle relays for Team USA.
