Here are your five things to know today, Oct. 6, in Montgomery County:

1. Montgomery County Councilmembers are expected to vote on a pesticide bill today- a proposed legislation that would ban certain pesticides from being applied to lawns and county-owned properties. The chief sponsor of this bill is Council President George Leventhal. Councilmembers Marc Elrich, Nancy Floreen, Nancy Navarro and Hans Riemer are co-sponsors.

2. Viva White Oak is the new name of a planned, 300-acre, mixed-use project in the White Oak area. Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett says the project “will transform and bring thousands of high-quality jobs and tremendous amenities to the East County.”

3. Tires Slashed in East Deer Park Community: Gaithersburg police officers are investigating vandalism of numerous vehicles in the East Deer Park community of Gaithersburg that occurred over the weekend.

4. Bicycle Master Plan: Residents are invited to attend a Bicycle Master Plan meeting to learn more about separated and buffered bike lanes, bicycle boulevards, secured bicycle storage facilities at transit stations, and more. This meeting will be held at Walter Jonhson High School at 7 p.m. in Bethesda. Learn more about the Bicycle Master Plan and how to get involved. RSVPS are encouraged but not required.

5. ONE OK ROCK U.S. Tour: This Japanese rock band formed in 2005 is scheduled to play today at the Fillmore in Silver Spring. Tickets are on sale here.
