Five Things to Know Today, Jan. 7, in Montgomery County

Today is Thursday, Jan. 7 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Metro Rail and Bus Service:  After closing early Wednesday due to the chaos at the Capitol Monday, Metro will operate regular, weekday service today.

2. Planning Board Meets:  The Planning Board meets today starting a 9 a.m. The agenda includes a work session for the Thrive Montgomery 2050 plan. The meeting is streamed online, learn how to watch here.

3. Public Safety Task Force Meeting: The Montgomery County Reimagining Public Safety Task Force will meet today at 6 p.m. The online public meeting will be streamed live via Facebook and will be broadcasted live on County Cable Montgomery (CCM). County Executive Marc Elrich formed the task force to provide recommended changes to the Montgomery County Police Department and other programs. Click here for more information.

4. COVID-19 Testing: Free COVID-19 testing is available throughout the county at five testing sites today. The schedule of clinics may be found here.

5. Winter Bingo: Montgomery Parks is hoping residents will explore Montgomery parks during January and play bingo with the January bingo card. After completing activities on five squares, enter the drawing and you may be one of three lucky winners to receive a $50 credit.
