1. The Montgomery County Board of Education has selected Dr. Jack Smith as the next superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools.
2. Brookeville resident Craig Zucker is Maryland’s newest State Senator. Zucker, a state delegate, was sworn in on Thursday, and he replaces District 14 State Senator Karen Montgomery, who retired.
3. Is your commute to work or school a bumpy ride because of potholes? Montgomery County and state officials want you to report pothole problems, online.
4. The 2016 College Championship of Jeopardy, which is airing this week and next, includes two Bethesda residents: Sam Deutsch, a junior from the University of Southern California, and Noah Cowan, a freshman from Brown University. Fifteen students are competing in the competition this week and next for a grand prize of $100,000.
